Fire At Auto Zone

At 2318 hrs, Bergenfield Fire Dispatch began to receive calls of a fire at the Auto Zone on New Bridge Road. Deputy Chief Gomez (D2) was first on scene and communicated to all responding units that there was a fire near the dumpsters and against the building. Chief Hartung (740) arrived on scene and assumed command. Truck 742 was instructed to go to the rear of the building and put their stick to the roof and check for extension. The first due engine (745) was instructed to lay in from the hydrant and attack the fire. The crew from 745 stretched a line and began to knock the fire down while 742’s crew made their way to the roof where no extension was found. Members from Rescue 746 and the second due engine (743) were used to overhaul the pile that was burning and check the interior structure for possible extension. There was no extension into the building. The fire was contained to its original area of origin. Pallets, heavy duty plastic containers and a fence were involved in the fire that is being considered suspicious and is being investigated. There were no injuries to any member of the BFD and units were off the scene in 60 minutes. |
