At 13:10 hrs., the Bergenfield FD was dispatched on a daytime still for a reported activated fire alarm in buildings 8 thru 14.  Ladder 742, under the command of Lt. Kirsch and Engine 743 responded.  Upon the arrival of the ladder, Lt. Kirsch established command and was met by workers who informed him that they had a small fire but it extinguished five minutes prior to the FD’s arrival and everything was okay.  Upon further investigation by Lt. Kirsch and his crew, they found a fire in the attic.  The Lt. ordered the call to be upgraded to a general alarm and 743 hit the hydrant and stretch a 1 ¾” attack line up to the attic. 

  Deputy Chief Kniesler (DC1) responded and upon his arrival he assumed command.  The fire was knocked quick and extensive overhaul was completed.  Damage was kept to a minimum due to the excellent work by Lt. Kirsch and his crew.  The fire had burned through the fire alarm wire and the alarm in the fire building never activated.

  The New Milford R.I.C. team responded to the scene while Teaneck Engine 1 and Dumont Engine 5 along with an Englewood Ladder 1 covered the town.  There were no injuries reported and all units were clear of the scene at 15:20 hrs.
