Posted on February 18, 2006

At approximately 1615 hrs, as per Chief Hartung, a general alarm was sounded for all fire department personnel to respond to their respective firehouses to stand-by and wait for further instructions. It turns out that someone found two mortar rounds on Woodbine Street near the culvert that crosses the brook.  The Bergen County Bomb Squad responded to the scene and was able to remove the devices without incident. All Bergenfield FD units were released by 1730 hrs and the local and county PD are investigating where these mortar rounds came from.
