Fire At 15 Banta Place

At 0400 hrs the Bergenfield FD was dispatched on a general alarm assignment for the reported fire on the front porch of 15 Banta Place.  Chief Gomez (740) was the first to arrive on scene and reported smoke showing and a working fire. Engine 745 was first due with a crew of 7 and pulled a 1 ½ attack line and began to open the exterior wall. The fire was quickly knocked down and no other extension into the structure was found.  The crew from Ladder 748 conducted a primary search, which was negative.  The crews from Engine 743 and Engine 744 stood by and were covering the town for additional alarms.  New Milford was requested to the scene as the FAST team.

  The investigation was conducted by members of the BFD and the fire was deemed to be accidental in nature.
