Car Fire On East Main St.

Posted on January 6, 2007

At 16:49 hrs, the Bergenfield FD was dispatched on a general alarm assignment for a reported truck fire near a residential structure. DC 2 (Byrnes) was first on scene and reported a fully involved Ford truck in the driveway of 134 E. Main Street. Engine 745 was first due and FF’s Chris Naylis and Rich O’Connor stretched an 1½ pre-connect attack line and extinguished the fire. The Ladder crew worked with the Engine crew to pop the hood and doors on the truck while the crews from 2nd due engine, 743, and RESCUE 746 entered the home and checked for extension. Chief Polandick had command of the incident.

The fire was contained to the vehicle with no extension to the home’s interior or exterior. Units were clear of the scene in 60 minutes and the initial investigation of the cause of the fire seems to be mechanical.
