Reported House Fire

Posted on June 15, 2008

At 15:22 hrs, the Bergenfield FD was dispatched on a general alarm assignment for a reported house fire at 79 Norfolk Street.  740, DC1 and DC2 responded along with the full 1st alarm group.  DC2 (Kneisler) was first on scene and reported a fire contained to the oven.  Engine 745 was first due and secured a water source.  Engine 745’s crew entered the kitchen and found a fire extending out form the oven and they quickly extinguished the fire. The Engine, Ladder and Rescue companies worked together using Thermal Imaging Cameras to check for extension and vented the structure.  Units were up from the scene in 40 minutes.

This brought an end to a very busy week for the BFD which saw them answer over 30 alarms.
