Rollover With Entrapment

At 18:44 hrs, Prospect Fire Co. No. 1 was dispatched on a still response for a reported rollover with entrapment at W. Clinton Ave and Melrose Ave. Chief Polandick (740) and Deputy Chief Byrnes (DC2) responded with RESCUE 746 and Engine 745.

Members from the RESCUE and engine stabilized the vehicle using high pressure air bags and rescue struts, while also assisting the BVAC to assess the patient’s injuries and removal options. The rear window was removed and the victim was packaged and extricated. BVAC transported the injured victim to a local hospital. Units cleared the scene in 60 minutes.

Mutual Aid To Dumont

At approximately 20:35 hrs, Engine 743 and Deputy 1 responded to Dumont's Company 1 firehouse to cover the town while the DFD was engaged in a house fire at 187 New Milford Avenue. They were released within 60 minutes.

Elevator Emergency

At approximately 10:20 the members of Alert Fire Company #1 were requested to 293 Murry Hill Terrace for an elevator emergency. Chief Polandick (740) arrived first and advised engine 744 that there were two occupants in the elevator stuck between the 3rd and 4th floors. Upon arrival of the engine, Captain Kneisler took half his crew to the roof to secure the electric while the other half of the crew went to the third floor. Once the electric was shut down to the unit, members assisted the two parties from the elevator. All units cleared the scene a short time later.

FF Steven Naylis Receives His Black Shield

At the September meeting of Prospect Fire Company No. 1, probationary firefighter Steven Naylis was elevated to active status. Steven was a member of the Junior Fire Department for two years prior to turning 18 and successfully completed his six months' probation period. He joins his parents, Jerry and Nancy, and brother Chris, as active members of the department.
