It is with deep regret that the Bergenfield Fire Department informs you of the passing of former member Edward J. Kniesler, Jr. the father of Deputy Chief Edward J. Kniesler, II and Grandfather of Lieutenant Andrew McGoldrick and firefighter Edward J. Kneisler, III.

Wake to be held at Riewerts Memorial Home in Bergenfield on Friday May 29, 2009 2-4 and 7-9.

Funeral on Saturday May 30, 2009.

Bergenfield members turned out to honor and remember our recently departed members at our annual Memorial Day service as well as recognizing our current members with service stripes and training certificates.

This year members received service stripes for five to thirty-five years of service.  The following members where recognized for their dedication to the department and the residents of Bergenfield: Rich O’Connor 5 years, Lieutenant Chris Saito 10 years, Lieutenant Norman Hoyt, Jr. 20 years, Ex-Chief Charles Hartung 20 years, Robert DeMartin 25 years, Walter Prihoda 35 years, Ex-Chief Gerard Naylis 35 years and Ex-Chief James McGoldrick 35 years.
